Directions To Fort Greene, Brooklyn
It is very easy to get to Fort Greene. The subway, Long Island RailRoad and New York City Bridges are all direct, viable modes of getting here.
by Subway and LIRR:
- One major subway hub is the Atlantic Avenue/Pacific Street station(s). Nearly every train in the system stops here: 2, 3, 4, 5, Q, W, N, R, M, J, Z and the Long Island RailRoad is in the Atlantic Ave station.
- DeKalb Avenue: N, R, W, and Q trains. This station lets out at DeKalb and Flatbush. Walk up DeKalb; when you come to St. Felix, this and continuing up is Fort Greene.
- Lafayette Avenue: A and C trains. The A train stops only after 11pm. Always look at the train's destination strip to see that it says LCL (for Local). Let it also be said here that unfortunately the C can be tremendously frustrating... Oh well, can't have the moon...
- Fulton Street: G trains. This station lets out at Lafayette Ave and Fulton - the near heart of the neighborhood.
by Road/Bridges: Here are two easy methods (coming from Manhattan)
- Brooklyn Bridge: At the Brooklyn side, turn left at the bridge's exit which is Tillary Street. Take Tillary, bearing right, to the next light which is Flatbush Avenue (or the Flatbush Extension). Turn right on Flatbush and continue, bearing left some 6 blocks or so and turn left on Fulton Street (one block after DeKalb). Continue up Fulton; shortly you will arrive at Lafayette Ave. Where you go from here is up to you.
Note: You can also turn left at Myrtle Avenue (if you need that side of Fort Greene) which you'll come upon shortly after the right turn onto Flatbush.
- Manhattan Bridge: The Manhattan Bridge lets out onto the Flatbush Avenue Extension so the directions above from the point of turning right onto Flatbush also apply here.
